What is Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient practice that started in India thousands of years ago. It’s all about connecting your body, mind and breath to create balance and well-being. The word "yoga" actually means to "unite" in Sanskrit, which reflects its goal of bringing everything together.

Yoga isn’t just about moving your body. While the physical part...called asanas...helps with strength, flexibility and balance, yoga also includes breathwork (pranayama) and meditation to calm the mind and create more awareness in everyday life.

There are many different styles of yoga, each with its own focus. Some are more about deep relaxation, like Restorative Yoga or Yin Yoga, while others are more active, like Vinyasa or Ashtanga.

No matter which style you choose, all forms of yoga aim to help you feel more present, peaceful and connected to yourself. Yoga isn’t just something you do on a mat....it’s a lifestyle. It’s about being mindful, staying present and taking care of your body and mind, both on and off the mat. It teaches you to live with more intention, compassion and balance in everything you do.

My personal Journey with yoga

I’ve been practicing yoga for quite a while now and honestly, it’s really changed the way I show up in the world. What started as a way to stay active turned into something much deeper…it helps me find balance, calm my mind and just feel more connected to who I am.

When I lived in Mexico, I really dove deeper into my practice and that’s when I knew I wanted to bring this peaceful energy to others. After training as a yoga teacher in Costa Rica, my practice kept growing and evolving. Over the years, yoga has helped me feel more confident, present and grounded in my daily life and I’m so grateful I get to share this with others in my classes and sessions.

My teaching style is always changing and evolving as I continue to grow. I integrate a lot of somatic practices to help students connect with their bodies in a deeper way, focusing on sensation rather than just achieving a specific pose. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where everyone can explore their body’s limits without feeling pushed. It’s important to me that students listen to their bodies and practice at their own pace, honoring where they are in the moment.
